Compassionate, inquisitive parenthood support.
As a mother, Wren understands the challenge of raising children in our modern culture. With her second child, she experienced extensive medical and separation trauma. Through her own mother-grief recovery work she sought the support that had been missing. Her personal transformative journey with parenting coaching inspired her to formally train in the discipline. She now introduces other parents to a radical, seeker’s approach to parenthood so they may better know themselves and a family life of ease.

Wren’s longstanding awareness practice is central to her life. She was introduced to mindfulness meditation by her primary teacher, Shinzen Young, when she was fourteen years old. She has sat extensive residential retreat with Reginald Ray, Thich Nhat Hanh, Pema Chodron, Tsultrim Allione, among many others. She has been teaching yoga and meditation for over twenty years.

Hatha yoga instructor.
Wren began yoga asana practice by devouring Richard Hittleman’s 28-day Yoga Plan in the privacy of her teen bedroom. One of her first teachers was the Iyengar expert, Roger Cole. She studied with Richard Rosen, Baxter Bell, and Ann Dyer at Piedmont Yoga in Oakland. She fled the Bay Area congestion to reside long term at Mount Madonna Yoga Center in the Santa Cruz Mountains surrounded by tall oaks, pines, redwoods and bizarre concrete monkey sculptures. She has taught in studios, hospitals, schools, community centers and teacher trainings.

As a fifth generation Californian, Wren works to honor the beautiful place she calls home. She does this through professional, personal and ceremonial engagement with native people as well as ongoing learning about the socio-cultural history and ecology of the region. She is an avid hiker, valuing the power of the living world she shares with her clients. Through volunteering in the public schools she shares her passion for stewardship with the next generation.

“A regular awareness practice reduces our tendency to be captivated by drama. It soothes the anxiety that accompanies a future-oriented mind. It dispels the mirage of ghosts haunting us, and reveals the similarities between pleasure and pain.
Over time, our practice peels away the map, revealing a raw encounter with the terrain.
It offers a practical method to access the freedom that we already are.”
